Remember the hotter your transmission oil gets the thinner your oil gets. The thinner your oil gets, the more it will leak past valves and end caps. This will cause a number of shift quality issues. By installing a transmission oil cooler, the intended viscosity of the oil remains intact. Not only does this improve shift quality, but it also improves the longevity of the entire transmission.

- Never install a multi-piece transmission cooler bracket or one that includes the transmission cooler as part of the bracket structure. They are prone to fatigue and failure.
- Never install a stainless steel transmission cooler bracket. Stainless steel induces corrosion in your aluminium cooler. Just google “stainless steel and aluminium” to find out more.

Good quality. The securing bracket for the exchanger is very solid and a good fit. The instructions coupled with the YouTube video made installation easy. I undertook a transmission service and fitted full-flow bypass valve at the same time. The only change I would make is to drain the engine coolant. If the hose clamps to the OEM cooler don’t seal properly (as in my case) you can lose a lot of coolant. Easier to drain and recycle the coolant.

Dual cooler ford ranger-px2. Product does what it says! even aroundtown transmission would go 100c°-105c° let alone towing.
Probably took me about 5hrs too install in the driveway would be quicker on a hoist, l also installed a thermal bypass valve.
Now around town l’m getting 55c°-60c°& towing caravan last weekend the same temps on hwy, l’m using an Ultragauge for transmission/coolant temps & have noticed it has dropped engine coolant temps to below 90c° also.

Twin Heavy Duty Transmission Oil Cooler Kit to suit Ford Ranger PX 6R80 6 Speed Auto. Received the transmission oil cooler kit from Wholesale Automatics, for my PX2 Ford Ranger for the 6R80 transmission. The authorised Wholesale Automatics specialist installer was Ron Hill Automatics – Maroochydore. All went well on the day completing the installation. The thermal valve had been removed and a bypass valve installed to ensure the oil is consistently circulated to the cooler. A noticeable improvement with smoother gear changes, learning mode had been implemented to improve the transmission response to variable driving styles and of course the transmission operates significantly cooler. I’m very happy with the kit and the outcome.
In stock form, the Ranger 6R80 transmission oil runs far hotter than it should (107c in my case) which may cause a premature transmission failure as a result, which is why I took the preventative measure of having this cooler installed, (now at 62c). After returning from a trip towing my 2.8T caravan throughout Victoria with my 2012 PX1 Ranger and experiencing transmission overheating problems on a number of occasions I sat down and reflected on what I had done and what was now the next step. I had already spent money on removing the transmission thermostat valve and replaced it with a bypass valve. This did nothing. I replaced the transmission heat exchanger with a brand new genuine one, this again did nothing along with a number of services and the highest quality transmission fluid installed each time. IT came down to doing research in a number of different locations and making an informed decision on the correct transmission cooler to have installed. I ordered a Twin Heavy Duty Transmission Oil Cooler Kit from Wholesale Automatic Transmissions. I have been suitably impressed by the whole experience, a very professional company to deal with. Oil cooler temps.. Supplied fitting instructions were a little confusing, photos being inverted to actual layout of oil cooler. Quality unit.. I tow a Cougar 5th wheeler with the Ranger taking it right to its maximum combined weight. While I haven’t had any problems with the factory cooler in am far happier having the larger cooler keeping the transmission temperature lower.
Being in New Zealand where the terrain is often hilly the trans is often working very hard. Everything in the box with good instructions for straight forward fitting. Fast delivery arrived within a week.
Just need the rain to stop so we can hit the road again.

Fine quality components.. I have installed the new version of the twin transmission coolers and am so far pleased with performance.
The components are excellent quality and instructions are good, however I would suggest they be upgraded to include two useful additions,:
1. That when slipping the side by side coolers between radiator and air conditioner it may be necessary to remove top engine radiator bolts to enable temporary pushing back to allow more room to slide new auto cooler into place.
2. Indicate that the cooler hoses attachment to auto does not require a specific orientation to top or lower connection, unlike the earlier cooler on cooler hose orientation that specifies a particular orientation.
3. Maybe a suggestion as to oil capacity of coolers and pipes to aid trans oil top up as to assist prepurchase of oil.
Very pleased with system otherwise and in my opinion a very necessary correction of the very poorly designed OEM cooler that in hotter Australian and SE Asian climactic conditions especially for towing heavier trailers and or caravans.

It was reasonably easy to fit, I am no mechanic and have the basic tools and found the instructions easy to follow and the parts easy to fit at home. A lift would make it easier and quicker but still able to be done without one.

Because of that I nearly decided to install myself, however as my Ute is still under new car warranty I took it to a local mechanic who I’ve used previously. Peace of Mind for a Cooler Transmission. I bought the AT cooler kit with 2L of Orto fluid for my 2016 Ranger XLT 3.2L. The combination of printed instructions, the YouTube clips and some more mechanically-minded friends we fitted the kit last weekend. You’ll need a few tools of the correct sizes (a range of sockets, Torx bits, screw drivers and spanners) some old rags/towels plus some ramps for the front wheels if you don’t want to get jammed under the vehicle. Now that it’s in (it took about 4 hours when you have to drop out the prop shaft to get to the heat exchanger…) the automatic transmission temperature running around town doesn’t get above 68 degrees. I’ll get to check out the difference it makes when towing a 2.5 ton caravan in a few weeks but I reckon it’ll run at least 5-10 degrees cooler. For $843 delivered to Hobart that’s a great price for peace of mind.

Best modification to extend transmission life Ford Ranger. Fitted twin cooler and thermal bypass to my 2020 Ford Ranger, was a relatively easy job to do with comprehensive written instructions and the youtube videos to follow. Prior to fitting my Ranger would run at 95 degrees everyday but when towing 2 ton even on a 10 degree day temps would head up to 105-110 degrees which also pushed the engine temps up. I haven’t towed yet but daily temps are between 55-60 degrees which will extend tranny and oil life, it is well worth the effort to fit, would recommend.

Transmission cooler kit. Item is fantastic. You do need 2 people to install and extra cable ties to ensure it’s secure and not vibrating. The job it self is a little harder with underbody armour and bash plates but still doable. A picture of the clamp tool for the coolant hoses would also be helpful. Great product and works well..
